Kansas City Chiefs Confirm Domestic Violence Allegations Connected to Player Rashee Rice
The Kansas City Chiefs released a comment on Wednesday evening confirming they are aware of claims of abuse circulated in social media posts by a ex-partner of player Rashee Rice and had been in contact with the NFL.
The organization did not mention the player by name in their statement and said they would have “no further comment at this time”.
Claims Posted on Social Media
Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name Rice directly, posted a set of images on social media that appeared to show indicators of bodily harm. She did say the individual in question was the father of her children, and it is known she has two children with Rice, whom the team selected in the 2023 draft.
Police Reports Currently Not on File
No official complaints were on file in the Kansas City suburb where the incident is said to have taken place.
Rice's Prior Legal Issues
Rice was absent for the initial part of this NFL campaign following an league-mandated ban for his involvement in instigating a multi-vehicle accident on a Texas roadway that left several individuals injured. He was given a month of incarceration and five years’ probation after pleading guilty to serious offenses.
On the field, Rice finished the season with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City finished with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a ten-year span.
